Sunshine Coast Hospice – Melbourne Cup Luncheon

Join us as we raise much-needed funds for Sunshine Hospice at a Melbourne Cup Luncheon.
About Sunshine Coast Hospice
The Sunshine Hospice Ltd was established in 2008 to provide specialised care to the terminally ill on the Sunshine Coast. Our charity operated a six-bed hospice facility for five years, caring for over 350 patients and their families. Relying only on donations, bequests, fundraising and revenue from five opportunity shops, our revenues could not meet the cost of operating a 24/7 medical facility and unfortunately, we closed the in-patient facility in December 2015.
Since then, we have been growing our cash reserves in order to build a purpose-built facility which is private hospital licensed and accredited, thereby giving us access to funding from private health funds, Department of Veterans Affairs and State Government. This will provide a financially sustainable model ensuring a hospice is available to the residents of the Sunshine Coast. All funds raised from the Melbourne Cup luncheon will go towards our building fund and we appreciate the support of the community in this event.” Sue Mason-Baker CEO Sunshine Hospice.
